About us can be a dry, corporate page but our story is a little different.
We call Indie Authors World our accidental business – it has grown and developed from Sinclair’s love of writing through to us helping writers like you to achieve your dreams of publishing. We didn’t start with a business plan – we evolved as you asked for our help and we are still evolving.
The spark for Sinclair to finish and publish his first book came from the desire to create something positive after a family trauma (you can read more in Calum’s Legacy). That first book (The Reluctant Detective) did so much for us as a family. It gave us a new focus, it gave us the challenge to learn about the book world and it gave us hope after a bleak time. We recognise that your reasons and hopes for your book are important – they are the fuel that takes you from wishing to publishing.
Kim is fuelled by new ideas and challenges, she is the eternal optimist and loves helping people. So as she very proudly told everyone about Sinclair’s achievements others shared their dreams with her. This is really why we first created Indie Authors Scotland and have now grown and developed into Indie Authors World – it was the desire to help people like you to get your book on sale. To create practical and economical ways for you to do it in a supportive and friendly environment.
We know many writers feel disheartened by the publishing lottery of agents, deals and slush piles. We know that self-publishing is a credible alternative today but have also heard the horror stories of people being ripped off by self-publishing companies. Our ethics and values are really important to us – we want to help you to produce the best book possible in a way that suits you.
We have met so many wonderful people on this journey. Helped birth a broad variety of fabulous books. We are growing a community of like-minded people who want to help each other. If this sounds like what you are looking for please get in touch and let’s make your book a reality.
With kindest wishes,
Sinclair and Kim
